Rig Dash — Privacy Policy

Who we are: Long Haul Labs, LLC (“Rig Dash,” “we,” “us”), 100 Pine Knoll Drive, Galax, Virginia 24333. Contact for privacy questions: support@longhaullabs.dev
In short: Rig Dash uses your location and your account to give you routes, weather, and tools. We don’t sell your information, we don’t run ads, and we don’t use tracking or analytics software. This page explains the details.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address (and your Google account’s basic profile if you sign in with Google). Your password, if you use one, is handled by Google’s sign-in system and we never see it. | To make and secure your account and to contact you about it. |
| Name (optional), vehicle type, max speed, display settings, alert choices. | To tailor the app to you. |
| Truck details: height, width, length, weight, axles, hazmat, and your toll preference. | To plan routes that fit your rig. |
| Saved addresses, Quick Launch links, cost settings, IFTA fuel log (date, state, gallons, price), IFTA mileage by state and tax rates, detention history. | To run your tools and keep them for you. |
| Reports and places you add: Bear Watch sightings and “still there?” answers, road conditions, parking / weigh-station / fuel-price updates, truck stops and rest areas you add, trivia name and score. | To share with other drivers. |
| Feedback you send (category, message), with your account email, app version, and device type. | To fix problems and improve the app. |
| “Not here” votes you cast on a driver-added place (which place report, your account identifier, when). Visible to other drivers’ apps (as an account identifier, not your name or email) so the map can hide places that drivers say are gone. | To keep the map accurate. |
| Flags you place on another driver’s report (which report, and your account identifier). | To let administrators review reports that look wrong. |
| Error reports sent automatically when the app crashes or hits an unexpected error while you’re signed in: the error message and top of its technical trace (email addresses are removed), the screen path, app version, device type, and your account identifier. | To find and fix bugs. Visible only to administrators. |
| Acknowledgements — that you accepted the truck-routing notice, and when. | To show the notice was seen. |
| Posting counts — how many posts of each kind you made recently and when, kept on your phone and in a small record tied to your account identifier. | To enforce posting limits and prevent flooding the map with fake reports. |
Information from your phone
- Precise location (GPS). Used while the app is open for the map, nearby places, weather, weigh-station alerts, Bear Watch prompts, pinning reports at your location, and — only if you turn it on — counting your miles by state for IFTA. We do not collect your location in the background or when the app is closed. For IFTA we keep only miles per state per day, not a trail of where you’ve been; the last GPS point used to count miles stays on your phone only.
- Settings and saved data on your device (browser storage), including a random device identifier used when you’re not signed in.
- Basic technical data, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages and functions requested, which our hosting and sign-in providers log for security and to run the service.
What we don’t collect
Payment information (we don’t take payments yet), your contacts, photos, microphone, or background location. We use no advertising or analytics tools and set no advertising or tracking cookies.
2. How we use it
To run the app and your account; to plan routes and show maps, weather, and nearby places; to show other drivers the reports and places you post; to confirm reports using several different accounts so the map stays honest; to keep the service secure and stop abuse and fake reports; to respond to feedback and support requests; to improve the app; and to meet legal obligations. We don’t use your information to make decisions about you that have legal effects, and we don’t sell it or share it for advertising.
3. Who sees it
Other drivers. What you post is shown to other users: report type, location, time, road name and note, place name and location, and (for trivia) the name you chose. We don’t show your name or email with reports, but each report is stored with an account identifier that our administrators can see. The app doesn’t show that identifier, but the shared report data is readable by anyone who looks at it directly, so treat it as visible to other people.
Our service providers, who handle data to run Rig Dash and may only use it for that purpose:
- Google (Firebase) — sign-in, our database, and your synced data.
- Netlify — hosting and the small server functions that carry out lookups.
- HERE Technologies — truck routing. We send your trip’s start, stops, and destination, your truck’s size and weight, your hazmat setting, and your toll preference. We do not send your name or email.
- Map, address and place services — OpenStreetMap, Esri, Photon (Komoot), Nominatim, the U.S. Census Bureau’s address service, and Overpass — receive the address text you search for, or the map area and places you look at, and as with any website they see your IP address.
- Weather and conditions — the U.S. National Weather Service, RainViewer, and state transportation agencies’ work-zone feeds receive locations along your route.
- Cloudflare — runs the small service that reads state work-zone data.
Legal and safety. We may share information if the law requires it, to respond to valid legal requests (including from law enforcement), to protect people’s safety, or to protect our rights.
Business changes. If we merge, sell, or reorganize, information may go with it, under this policy’s protections.
4. Your choices and rights
- Location. You control location permission in your browser or phone settings. Without it, maps, nearby places, alerts, reporting at your location, and IFTA GPS miles won’t work. The IFTA GPS switch is off until you turn it on.
- See and edit. Most of what we hold about you is in the app: your settings, addresses, fuel log, mileage (every entry can be edited or deleted), and truck details.
- Delete your account and data. In the app, go to More → Account & Sync → Delete my account. After you confirm it’s you (a fresh sign-in) and type DELETE, we permanently erase your account and sign-in; everything saved to it (fuel log, mileage, addresses, cost and truck settings, detention history); and every report, place, feedback message, flag, “not here” vote, and error report you posted or sent. Your phone is cleared too. You can also ask us at support@longhaullabs.dev. Your Dock Trivia leaderboard entry isn’t linked to your account and isn’t removed. Because deleted reports are erased, not made anonymous, a sighting or place other drivers had confirmed with you may disappear or need re-confirming. Backups held by our providers can persist briefly.
- Sign out. Signing out saves your latest changes and then clears your personal information from that phone.
- Rights under state privacy laws. Depending on where you live (for example California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and others), you may have the right to know what we hold, get a copy, correct or delete it, and opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising. We don’t sell or share personal information for advertising. Precise location is treated as sensitive information under some of these laws; we use it only to provide the features you ask for. To use these rights, contact support@longhaullabs.dev. We won’t treat you differently for using them.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account information and saved data — until you delete your account (a Delete my account button is in the app).
- Reports and places — the app stops showing Bear Watch sightings after 1 hour and road reports after a few hours, and stamps every report with a delete-by date (Bear Watch about 24 hours, road about 3 days), but the automatic deletion needs a paid database plan and is not switched on yet. Until it is, old reports stay in the database and are removed by an administrator. Places that drivers add stay until removed. Parking, weigh-station and fuel-price updates stay until the next update replaces them.
- Feedback — about 12 months. Old feedback is removed by an administrator, because automatic deletion is not switched on yet.
- Flags and “not here” votes — about 90 days; error reports — about 30 days. Old ones are removed by an administrator, because automatic deletion is not switched on yet.
- Posting counters (a small record, per account, of how many posts you made recently, used to enforce posting limits) — small records (your account identifier, counts and times) that are kept until an administrator clears them.
- Hosting and sign-in logs — as kept by those providers.
- Backups — may persist for a short time after deletion.
6. Security
We use encrypted connections, sign-in through Google, and database rules that limit who can read and write what (for example, your synced data can only be read by your account, and feedback only by our administrators). No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security. Tell us right away at support@longhaullabs.dev if you think your account has been affected.
7. Children
Rig Dash is not for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
8. Where information is stored
Our providers store and process data in the United States and possibly elsewhere. Rig Dash is intended for use in the United States.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. For important changes we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
